On Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th April, Liu Batchelor
Their aim? To raise £1,500 to build a multi-sports arena for street kids in Uganda, while also inspiring people in Kent to get out, active and motivated to try different sports, and maybe even discover their perfect sport in the process!
Liu and Georgina will be supported by local sports clubs, who will host them for the various legs of their trip. So far, their itinerary includes American football, roller derby, pickleball, wheelchair sports, sailing, surfing, cycling
Funds raised from the challenge will go to Alongside Africa, with all donations going exclusively to build a sports arena which can be used for everything from basketball to volleyball and everything in between. This will give street kids living in poverty and deprivation in Uganda the opportunity to build core skills including team-work, determination, and confidence. Any funds raised over the target will be used to provide additional training opportunities and a local sports coach – at the cost of just £50 per month.
The pair will be documenting the entire challenge, including stories and insights from the individuals and local clubs involved, all set against the backdrop to the beautiful Kent coastline.
