Volunteer in Uganda

You are welcome to participate in any of our programmes. We have a particular need for people with experience in or wanting to work with children from troubled backgrounds. First aid training is always extremely helpful.

Needs and activities are very flexible, and there will usually be something for you to get involved in every day. Our biggest need for volunteers is during December and January when the children have a very long school holiday and we need activities to keep them safe, busy, and off the streets. We usually run football training and take part in local tournaments, dance and singing groups, crafts, and tutoring of English and maths in the form of games and fun activities (rather than formal teaching).

As caregivers of children who have been boarding at school often struggle to feed them once they are at home during holidays, we usually deliver food parcels to the neediest families at the beginning of December and January.

Other volunteering activities include field visits to women’s groups, Batwa and schools that we work with. There are also visits to the homes of our existing sponsored children as well as to new children in need. All of this requires admin updates, which volunteers can help with.

Within the UK we are seeking enthusiastic volunteers: 

• With relevant experience of charity growth and governance to become actively involved as members of our Board.
• With experience in fundraising and donor engagement
• With experience in marketing, communications, website development, social media management, digital communications, and graphic design to help us engage more people with our work.
