Alongside Africa programmes in Uganda does not run in isolation from the local community. A key partner to our work in Uganda is the Rugarama Hospital in Kabale. The hospital provides medical services for the street children when referred by Alongside Africa Uganda and provides a periodic dental outreach service. In return Alongside Africa provides the hospital with clothing for its abandoned baby unit and spectacles for those unable to afford them. Alongside Africa has also provided a portable defribulator to the hospital.
Yesterday we were delighted to have been able to hand over baby clothes and spectacles donated by supporters in the UK. We also enjoyed a tour of the hospital, which is currently expanding thanks to a generous US donor. The hospital does not enjoy the facilities available within a modern western hospital. but the dedicated staff perform daily miracles with the limited resources available
