After a busy week in which the long awaited rains arrived, the Amasiko Halfway House is getting closer to completion. The building, which once opened, will become a temporary home for street children and a monument of hope. Some street children visit the site daily to keep up to date with the progress at the site.
Older former street children joined us at the site to work as labourers and they have been a great support to our Slovenian team. This opportunity not only helped them earn some income along the way but it is also a project of hope that they take pride in and are keen to make their contributions.
During the week, the perimeter fence was erected and drainage channels have been completed. Some of the ongoing construction work is now focused on the external drainage work and the internal plastering, which are also nearing completion.
The Amasiko Halfway House sports field and recreation area for children to play games in, is now almost level and ready for planting with grass.
