What a weekend! An update from our Uganda director, Tirwomwe Wilberforce
While the weather here in Kabale remains sunny and dry, it seems that every day someone else is being taken away from us. Often life throws at us many different situations, but we keep prevailing through them.
We met the weekend with a lot of energy and hope. Firstly, our lost pig was recovered! Following this we went to visit Alongside Africa sponsored children at Kabale Brainstorm High School and the Amazing Love School, we met the 37 children who were all in good spirits.
As the weekend progressed, we visited the Church Service where 9 of the Amazing Love School children were christened. It was a pleasant service; some of the kids came from vulnerable backgrounds. Former kids without Christian names were part of the service, which was a blessing to see. Some of our former colleagues also attended the ceremony. The ceremony was long but hopefully rewarding.
We had a wonderful lunch after the baptism, while it should have been an enjoyable time unfortunately I was met with some unfortunate news. One of the low bed trailers had lost control and crashed into my rented premises along Mbarara road, destroying one of my hard-earned three-room housing units beyond repair. After hearing this I rushed to the scene, fortunately there were no casualties, pregnant tenants who lived close by and were bathing managed to escape with only minor bruises. However, the occupants of the property were injured one of them being critical.
Where do broken hearts go?? My only consolation was that later yesterday evening my favourite soccer team Portugal trounced the much-fancied French team to lift the Euro 2016 football tourney. Indeed life is not short of surprises; some pleasant. Kindly acknowledge receipt; pray for me and us if you may.
