After a long journey we finally arrived in Kabale only three hours late – very tired but safe and well. As usual we have been very warmly welcomed by everyone we have met since we arrived, especially the street children several of whom we met on Sunday.
After an exciting church service at Amazing Love School on Sunday we started to get orientated in the town and met lots of friends.
Monday found us at Amasiko where we were enthusiastically welcomed by a couple of dozen street children, who showed their delight by giving us lots of hugs. The day turned out to be the busiest to date for the programme with 40 children in attandance. It was so heart warming to see so many children being helped and so happy, but also heartbreaking to see the state of some of them, particualarly those who have arrived in the last few days. Watching the Amasiko General Manager, Peace, spending so much of her day treating a severe case of jiggers and foot infection was humbling and reminded us, if we were to need it, why we are here.
We have a very busy schedule for the next couple of weeks and are looking forward to all of the work that is lined up for us.
